The goal of therapy using the Lokomat®Pro system is to improve patients’ daily motor function, leveraging the principle of neuroplasticity, for individuals with movement disorders caused by neurological conditions.
Lokomat®Pro combines functional locomotor therapy with motivational training and objective patient assessment using advanced feedback tools and virtual reality, setting new standards in robotic rehabilitation.
Key Benefits of Lokomat®Pro Therapy
Lokomat®Pro provides a physiological and repetitive gait pattern, which is especially crucial during the early stages of rehabilitation. The robotic system enables high-intensity therapy that accelerates the rehabilitation process. Advanced feedback tools display gait activity in real time, offering precise biological feedback and maintaining a high level of patient motivation. During treadmill gait training, the natural stimulation of foot pressure receptors triggers afferent feedback and activates brain cortex regions responsible for locomotion, enabling the reformation of motor skills.
New Competitive Programs Enhance Long-Term Motivation
Lokomat®Pro’s game-based programs offer engaging exercises that boost patient motivation and involvement, incorporating elements of competition with an intuitive scoring system. Functional extended feedback encourages the patient to improve specific gait parameters such as foot lift, step length, and symmetry.
Special force sensors embedded in the robotic orthoses of Lokomat®Pro measure the patient’s active movements and allow the intensity of mechanical assistance to be individually adjusted for each limb. The assistance adapts in real time, encouraging more active patient participation in therapy.
The integrated feedback system monitors gait and visually displays up to 8 biomechanical gait parameters in real time, increasing motivation and stimulating motor relearning.
The New FreeD® Module
The FreeD® pelvic mobility module is a completely new and unique feature that enables free movement of the patient's pelvis. It simulates lateral shifts, pelvic rotations, and weight shifting from one leg to the other to reproduce a natural gait pattern.
The module offers several unique training benefits:
- pelvic rotation to activate core muscles;
- weight transfer from one leg to the other;
- abduction/adduction in the hip joints.
