Description

Letto2 (MOTOmed) Active-passive mechanotherapy simulator

MOTOmed letto2 rehabilitation device (bedside)

Daily movement is a prerequisite for maintaining mobility and vital functions of the body.

Many vital functions of the body cannot do without movement, for example: blood circulation, respiratory and cardiac activity, metabolism, gastrointestinal activity, etc. People who are able to walk, maintain their physiological functions in everyday life due to movement (on average, from 4,000 to 6,000 steps per day). Studies have shown that 9-day hypokinesia reduces the oxygen consumption coefficient by 20% and reduces the size of the heart by 10%. Muscles, not receiving physical exercise, atrophy.

The loss or limitation of natural movements leads most "bedridden" patients to significant physical and psychological injuries and complications. Daily and individual procedures by a chiropractor can be used with the MOTOmed letto2 rehabilitation device - this will complement and consolidate the results of the manual therapy procedure. By regularly performing cyclic physical exercises on the MOTOmed letto2 device, it is possible to significantly increase the effectiveness of rehabilitation measures.

MOTOmed letto2 is recommended for use in the following indications:

• Coma

• Patients on artificial respiration

• Postoperative condition (early stage of rehabilitation of injured patients)

• Neurological dysfunctions as a result of, for example, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, stroke, etc.

• Post-endoprosthetic knee and hip joints

• Rehabilitation of geriatric patients

• Hemodialysis procedure

• Intensive care

• Inpatient rehabilitation

Therapeutic options:

  • Passive training with a motor

The motor under the control of the microprocessor performs cyclic rotations of the legs or arms. The legs (arms) relax, muscle tone is normalized. It is possible to adjust the number of revolutions, training time, and change the direction of rotation. The presence of a spasticity detection mode: "Spasm control" - allows the rehabilitation device to detect muscle spasticity, stop rotation and automatically start rotation in the opposite direction according to the therapeutic principle. This mode continues until the spasticity is completely eliminated.

  • Servo training (Active training with a motor)

The "Servo training" mode (active training with a motor) allows patients to actively train even with only residual muscle strength. They will be able to use their own muscle strength, even when it is clearly not visible, and with the help of a motor and special software, independent pedaling can be achieved in all cases. Therefore, it is possible to strengthen and train even minimal muscle strength independently in the early stages of the rehabilitation process! This mode significantly increases the patients' motivation for recovery and their psycho-emotional state.

  • Active training

The patient rotates the pedals using his own strength, overcoming the resistance force, which is smoothly adjusted from 0 to 20 Nm on the control panel. The patient's own energy invested in the training can be seen (in watts) on the display screen both during and after the training.

  • Reliable software

"Motion protection" (metered motor resistance force)

The "Motion Protection" program monitors muscle tone during the training and suspends the operation of the MOTOmed device even if it increases slightly. A distinctive feature of the program: the motor traction force is not constant, it automatically adapts to the tone of the paretic muscles, as a result of which it is always optimally adjusted. If the spastic tone increases, the MOTOmed trainer will immediately stop, and the "Spasm Control" program will help relieve spasticity.

  • «Spasm control» (automatic change of direction of movement)

After spasticity is recognized by the «Motion Protection» program and pedal rotation is automatically suspended, this program - «Spasm control» will provide diagnostics of spasmodic muscles with automatic change of direction of movement. The latter is carried out on the principle that with spasticity of flexor muscles, extension is carried out, and with spasticity of extensor muscles, flexion of limbs is carried out. The procedure will continue until the spastic tone decreases.

Therapeutic tasks:

  • Physiotherapy support

Passive movement of the lower limbs, especially in comatose states, is an integral part of treatment and rehabilitation measures. Often this is associated with great physical exertion for both the therapist and the patient's family and friends. Using the MOTOmed letto2 simulator will allow you to carry out regular passive-active procedures with the patient with minimal assistance from others. Even on days off from procedures. For a more effective rehabilitation process, the previous "preparation" of the patient for future rehabilitation procedures plays a very important role. Due to the performance of natural, cyclic movements on the MOTOmed simulator, most patients experience a decrease in paretic tone of the limbs. Further rehabilitation procedures will be more effective from an economic and practical point of view. Dosed, rhythmically repeating physical exercises performed by an electric motor allow working even with particularly hesitant patients, leading them step by step to independent, active exercise.

  • Prevention of thrombosis and bedsores

The use of MOTOmed therapy in practice helps prevent thrombosis or bedsores (i.e. without side effects) by activating venous circulation in the extremities. The performed cyclic rotational movements are similar to cycling, thereby increasing venous blood flow in the extremities up to 400% compared to the resting state. Better oxygen supply to the cerebral cortex, soft tissues, extremities, and the entire body as a whole, has a positive effect on homeostasis and the functional state of the body.

  • Muscle tone and spasticity

Dosed, rhythmic rotational movements will directly help normalize muscle tone. The "Motion Protection" program of the MOTOmed letto2 device monitors the state of muscles in motion and responds to any manifestation of spasticity using MOTOmed "Spasm Control". Regular correction of spasticity leads in most cases to a long-term decrease in muscle tone.

  • Maintaining mobility and preventing contractures

In joints that are immobile for a very long time, stiffness and contractures are formed. By using the MOTOmed letto2 simulator, patients will be able to effectively prevent muscle contractures even at the early postoperative stage of rehabilitation treatment. Using the MOTOmed letto2 simulator, the user will perform more than a hundred rotational movements in just 10 minutes, which will allow him to maintain joint mobility and muscle elasticity.

  • Bladder and intestines

In a normal state, the abdominal muscles contribute to the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. In addition to the listed health effects, activation of the abdominal muscles during work on the MOTOmed letto2 device through somatovisceral reflexes helps to improve the functions of the abdominal and pelvic organs - normalization of digestion and excretion. Lack of movement and increased tone are often the cause of stagnation in the bladder, thereby causing tension in the hip area. Due to a few minutes of passive exercise on the MOTOmed letto2 device, this tension can be relieved, which will have a positive effect on the functioning of the entire genitourinary system.

  • Strength and coordination of movements - restoration of walking

Many patients on bed rest have preserved "remnants" of motor activity. Sometimes they are simply blocked due to increased spasticity. Residual forces are often minimal and insufficient to perform uniform movement or are of a short-term nature. The MOTOmed letto2 device has a special function: MOTOmed "Servo training", which will help to identify and subsequently restore the patient's reserve strength. This function allows you to perform movements actively at any level of functional capabilities. Patients are mobilized, and motor stereotypes that have not been used for a certain time are restored. Precisely dosing loads allow patients with a stable condition to use the simulator for a longer period of time. This helps restore walking. Further tasks of MOTOmed therapy are to improve the coordination of movement and strengthen the muscles of the limbs.

  • Positive effect on the general condition

Regular exercise plays a major role in improving the quality of life in patients with a motor defect. Due to the periodic stimulation of conductive sensors, an improvement in the psycho-emotional state of the patient is often observed. An experiment on patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis showed that both passive and "Servo training" on the MOTOmed letto2 device have a very positive effect on the oxygen consumption coefficient, as well as on the frequency and depth of breathing.

  • Reduce the duration of treatment

Additional daily MOTOmed therapy improves the rehabilitation effect and promotes a more significant recovery of functions (especially after a stroke). Above all, exercises on the MOTOmed letto2 device create favorable conditions for further procedures.

The MOTOmed letto2 device is very convenient to use due to its simplicity and safety in operation. This bedside trainer on wheels is easy to move and easy to use. The special design of the device allows it to be securely and easily attached to the bed in a few seconds. For all kinds of settings, the use of the instrument is not necessary. When attaching the trainer to the bed, the patient can continue to stay in bed. The use of the MOTOmed letto2 bedside device can also be combined with other procedures, such as hemodialysis.
