Syringes and needles
Whether it's a flu shot, anesthesia injection, or anything else, an invasive procedure requires the use of proper equipment for safe and effective use.
Syringes and needles are used in medicine and cosmetology to deliver drugs and vital substances into the skin, subcutaneous tissue, bloodstream, and muscles. Also, needle and syringe is needed for drawing blood and taking samples of biological fluids. The process of injections and sampling is different, so for each of the procedures use products of different design and diameter.
Manufacturers today offer a wide range of needles and syringes for medical use. When choosing, it is important to consider quality, ease of use, safety and the maximum possible painlessness in use.
Types of medical syringes
A disposable syringe consists of three main parts:
- a cylinder into which the medicine or solution is drawn;
- a piston, which is necessary for injecting the liquid;
- the tip, to which the needle is attached.
The volume of the cylinder is indicated in cubic centimeters or milliliters, depending on the volume of substance the syringe is designed for. The smallest are insulin syringes. Small syringes are also used in cosmetology. A large syringe can be used to flush individual organs and tissues, such as tonsils or nasopharynx.
Types of medical needles
Medical needles for a syringe come in a package with a syringe or separately, each in an individual package. They come in these types:
- Subcutaneous injection needles, which are used to inject medicine into the subcutaneous tissue.
- Intravenous syringe needle, which is used to inject a liquid solution into a vein.
- Sampling needles, which are used to obtain a portion of blood, tissue, or fluid for analysis.
Syringe needles are distinguished by these parameters:
- Caliber or diameter of the needle. Thicker needles are necessary for injecting more viscous fluids, while thinner needles reduce pain during injection and are designed for less viscous solutions.
- Length. It is important for how deep the fluid needs to be injected: into the skin (intradermal injection), subcutaneous tissue, or muscle.
How to choose syringes
The right type of syringe depends on the specific needs, the substances the healthcare provider will be working with. Clinics and medical centers, as a rule, buy syringes of different types for a wide range of uses. Therefore, the main criterion for wholesale purchase is the quality of products.
A medical syringe from a trusted manufacturer is less likely to leak, break or contain inaccurate measurement data. The latter parameter is important when highly accurate dosage of medicine is particularly important. For commercial establishments, it is equally important how much syringes cost. And although the cost is not a key parameter, every buyer strives to find the best offer.
